Middles trade a small possible vig loss for a chance at winning both bets. Unlike arbitrage (which guarantees profit on every outcome), middles can lose a small amount on the times the result doesn’t land in the window. The +EV math depends on the width of the window, the sport’s scoring distribution, and the vig on each leg.
