Offshore Sportsbook
In short: A sportsbook licensed outside the United States (commonly in Curaçao, Costa Rica, or Antigua) that accepts US customers. Examples include Bovada, BetOnline, MyBookie, and Bookmaker.eu. Operates outside US state regulatory frameworks.
Also known as: offshore book, international book
Offshore books set lines independently from the US retail market, which makes them a frequent source of pricing disagreements and arbitrage opportunities. Tradeoffs include weaker consumer protections, crypto-based deposits/withdrawals, and varying limit policies.
